Thank you! These weren't any exception, trust me. XD But besides sheer persistence, I've found a few useful tricks for retexturing EAxis hair: having a painting program with a functional warp tool, previewing the texture on the mesh in Milkshape (it's easier to match up seams when I can look at the UV map with a few clicks), and besides using the original texture as a guide, blending it with the new texture, which gives it a lot of definition without looking crayon-y or strawlike. I can't do the blending with curly hair, but curly textures are a lot more forgiving so it evens out.
