The Penny Arcade set of the In for a Penny series is skinset with gold undertones, ranging from pale gold to caramel and olive tones. Three and Four are very similar in tone, but Four is a little darker and more caramel, whereas Three is a definite olive.
Again, these have a different nose--a more defined nose that tapers toward the bridge--and a different browline.
Credits: Enayla, Rensim, Teru_K, HP, Leh, jirka (for the nose)
Special thanks to Pooklet for her colour actions
ETA: On Arcade Two, I accidentally switched the soft textures of EF and AF/TF! If you're downloading for the first time, you'll get the corrected skin in the archive. For those who have already downloaded--
Corrected CUSTOM Arcade Two
Corrected GENETICIZED + TOWNIFIED Arcade Two

What's next in the Pennies series? Could be lots more, as I keep stumbling across new penny idioms (argh), but since I'm up to 15 skins in this series alone, I'm going to take a bit of a break, make some defaults, and think of what gaps need to be filled and what I'd like the alien skins to look like. That one is going to be the tough part!
Also: I put these together while under the influence of an annoying headcold, so if I botched something up, please let me know. (I already know I forgot to include preview pics in the rar. AGAIN. Mea culpa...)

Thank you! I seem to be on the mend.

Date: 2010-03-30 10:26 pm (UTC)Also? This series is AWESOME. It has caused my largest genetic gap to be my second largest genetic gap!

Date: 2010-03-31 03:06 pm (UTC)When I first noticed shadows were lining up funky on some of my elders, I checked all my skins-- back before you came out with Food of the Gods-- and only four sets had separate textures for elders. Three of those were Pooklet's, the other was my defaults-plus-two, and not one of those four sets had any significant differences between AF and EF besides boob location. So basically I said "The hell with it" and nabbed this default by Spookymuffin, even if I do kind of wish she'd chosen a slightly wider set of hips. (I know Warlokk thinks hips and thighs are the same thing, but heavier thighs on an old lady work for me. I'd fix it myself, but my mesh-defaulting skills suck.)
Thanks so much for fixing Two! My gaps, how they shrink! Penny Arcade Three and Four have taken a chunk out of one of my gaps (I now have a .51 and a .52! Granted, the next spot up from .52 is .60...), and the Fours in both Penny for Your Thoughts and Penny Wise filled in my .80 and .81 spots nicely (and, yes, okay, the next number up is .90). This set is AWESOME. It makes me and my genetic spectrum VERY happy.

Date: 2010-03-31 03:26 pm (UTC)Hahaha! I noticed that and it drove me nuuuuuts. I was interested in his bodyshape variety at one point, until I got a good look at them--and promptly went on a rant about how having big thighs is not the same as having big hips. They often occur concurrently but that doesn't make them equivalent, damn it.
That's a good default (although I agree, having a little more heaviness in the bottom would've been a good thing). And--mesh defaulting doesn't have to be hard. I know there was once a hideously convoluted method, but now it's pjust like making a new mesh package; you clone the mesh you want to replace, don't fix TGI, and replace the GMDC with the GMDC of the replacement. Although I realize that might have been all nonsense to you. :)
Thank YOU for alerting me. I can't stand having huge mistakes like that in my work and I'm more mortified by finding out myself loooong after my first upload than I am someone promptly telling me that there's a mistake.
By the waaaaay, are you still in need of a child ninja mesh?

Date: 2010-03-31 03:48 pm (UTC)Ahem. Yes, indeed I would still be very interested in a child ninja mesh, and in fact I would be quite likely to in-game canonize someone who could provide me with one. (No, really, that's thematic; the OFB and BV ninja and superninja costumes are what I use for my religious order in-game.)
I think I read your rant about the hip =/= thigh issue-- it's the first time I noticed it, myself. But then I kind of like the heavier and skinnier legs on Warlokk's meshes, so I find myself willing to overlook his poor grasp of measuring techniques. ... Not that I use any custom body shapes besides Bloom's Bigger Rounder Pregnant Belly, and I only use that one because it came with the first really good really DARK dark skintone I'd ever seen.
The trouble I have with mesh-defaulting is that... well, I've got several different tutorials printed out on how to do it, they all use different methods, and I don't actually understand what the steps DO. If I did, I'd've replaced all the EAxis potion bottles with pretty pretty Panacea bottles from Parsimonious and all the Simoleon bills with coins and... yeah. Shoot, I'm having trouble getting some cloned objects to work the way I want them to.

I was feeling particularly gracious today, what can I say? X) Although perhaps not entirely: I haven't yet tested it in game, just in bodyshop. If it animates weirdly let me know.

Fair enough, and that does make things a lot harder. I really only know how clothing defaulting works; objects are still quite a mystery to me.

Thanks for these!

Date: 2010-04-08 10:37 pm (UTC)I hope I'm not being annoying, but I would like to know if you are okay with blending your skins. I really love them, and I'm already playing with them in my Medieval 'hood, which is more Maxis-match. They look even more delicious in-game, I'm really in love with them. Besides that, I'm in consistency heaven.
But I'm creating another neighborhood with different aesthetics, and for this I want glowier, shinier skins. So I'm working on skin blends with yours as a base, and I would like to know if you are okay with this. Right now the blend looks like this: http://i40.tinypic.com/29puikp.jpg . If you consider I'm making bad use of your work, I won't be offended, in any way - you can just tell me.
Again, thank you very much for your hard, brilliant and much appreciated work.
